What Being Authentic Online Means
Mar 05, 2021This quote (in pic below) by William W. Purkey is something we should probably all live by.
Social media and online presence opens us to being more exposed to criticism and that so often stops us from ever getting started.
Please don’t let that fear of judgement, of what ‘others’ might think stop us from pursuing our PASSION and most of all from LIVING our lives.
Go do what you want to do!
You are more powerful than you realize!
Take a leap of faith and try something new.
Don’t be afraid of how things will turn out because if you don’t make that move, you will live the kind of life where you will always keep wondering what could have happened if you tried.
β‘ INSTEAD...
πΈ Embrace and accept who you are. Create that deep knowledge of who you are and the message that you want to impart to the world then share it.
πΈ Always BE authentic. By showing your true self, you will be able to make that genuine connection with others. As your CEO self. Step into this version of you so that it IS authentic but without feeling the pressure of thinking that the whole world needs to know every little detail about yourself - that might be overkill.
πΈ Have the STRONGEST belief in yourself and in what you’re capable of because if you do, what others think won’t really have an effect on you. The thing that matters most is what YOU think of you.
Who else loves TIKTOK? I personally really love consuming content on there. It entertains me.
But so far, I've barely shared any content on there.
Let's talk about this -
Before Tiktok, Instagram added IGTV to battle with Youtube and then integrated the “IG stories” to level with snapchat and now that the new “Instagram REELS” has been introduced, it is competing with tiktok.
Social media platforms will ALWAYS be evolving and yes, we do have to adapt to progress with it. No one is still on myspace or periscope etc.
And the value of being an early adopter is that knowing how to play with it and applying it to your business, you have the power to make your account blow up.
BUT...
just because there's a new flashy toy to play with, doesn't mean that we have to be on every single one, honestly unless we have a massive team to do it for us, there’s just not enough energy in a day to do it allllll. You DON'T have to become a master at all of them because that will deplete the finite things like your energy/time/resources.
If you're making a commitment to start a >>> Podcast, YouTube channel, FB Lives, IGTV’s, stories, Tiktok or the new Reel, you're probably gonna burn yourself out and not be consistent on all those platforms.
So it’s best to focus on the primary ONEβοΈ which you and your clients enjoy most spending your time on because the accounts we're building are the purpose of our business.
Here’s a tip:
β‘ Have 1οΈβ£ new primary marketing project per quarter so you can focus and learn everything you need to know about it including its effectiveness.
Find the things that you can be CONSISTENT in and then each quarter look for something that you could grow in and help build support around.
So if you want to - you can add in a new marketing toy each new quarter instead of trying to master all of them at once and burn out.
πIMPORTANT!! >> When you NAIL your actual authentic performance [the way that you show up in your videos], you're able to transfer the ability/skill to shine on ALL/ANY of the different platforms.
Master YOURSELF first and foremost.π«
